Biography
Barbara lives in New York and is an interdisciplinary thinker and creator navigating the worlds of architecture, design, visual arts, and activism. She launched Studio Barbara Meets Woven in 2012 in California.
Barbara Meets Woven is an architect, artist, and designer who navigates the realms of architecture, design, and visual arts. Her works evoke themes such as feminism and society, weaving a genuine activist thread through her creations. Now, the artist is poised to unveil her exhibition featuring more than six original pieces, including sculptures, architectural installations, audiovisual productions, and textiles.
The exhibition, slated to debut in 2025, is the culmination of the artist's personal and collective repertoire. It emerges from her experiences and insights as both a woman and a creative spirit. Within a complex society rooted in patriarchal structures, works of art that serve as garments—and vice versa—can express a sense of belonging and, above all, provide pathways for communication, documentation, and memory. Barbara seeks to adorn bodies and occupy spaces. And she yearns to speak.
